From time to time trail cameras often catch some really strange things but we think this image has got to be the strangest of them all. It was sent to us by a user who says they found it on the internet and that the image is supposed to have been taken in Lousiana.
We looked the photo over and if it has been photoshopped, they did a very good job. The legs or knees of the creature as you can see are sunken into the soft ground. The pixels around the image are in line with the rest of the image and not broken as you would expect. We ran an image filter on it and the picture shows no signs of cut and paste.
What it is, we will probably never know, is it real? probably not but then again who knows what may be lurking out there in the wild. One thing is for sure, we definitly dont want to run into anything like this while we are out hunting and if we do, you can rest assured, we will become the fastest thing in the forest.
Later next week we will be running the Mutant Deer image, keep an aye out for this one and let us know what you think.

You sit at home watching a hunting program on TV and you see those monster bucks taken with a variety of different methods. You see those fields with two, three or more big bucks in there, standing around just asking for you to drop one. The next day you are out hunting and you are all enthusiastic about the day only to find out you didn’t see one blasted deer. Then comes the feelings of being discouraged and ready to give it up. After all why cant you get out and see those deer like that? We have all been there at one time or another and I find myself in that same situation this week.

As a follow up on our last article Placing Your Blind or Stand, we wanted to place some emphasis on wind direction and how it can affect your hunting set up. Being a wildland firefighter I have learned a thing or two about wind currents. The wind much like the tide will ebb and flow. Recognizing these wind directions and their related times throughout the day will increase your chances of tagging a deer.
Morning and evening winds will most often be in different directions. Many places will experience an increase in wind intensity in the noon hours lasting on into the afternoon. In mountain regions the morning winds will be up slope and then down slope in the evening hours. As a hunter wanting the edge over your game of choice, you will need to observe these conditions for a period of several days to determine the normal wind flows for the location you are hunting.

Mutant Deer? We picked this one up from a site that claims the deer came from a remote location of the wilderness in Main called the Belanger Range. Looks kind of like a cross between a whitetail and wild hog if you ask us. Its always fun to post something weird and strange every now and then but what if this thing is real? You can bet if it is and there are more of them out there we will see some really shaken hunters. Sort of looks like a Bubba deer huh?
